Duir

They were kings,
once.
The forest knew no nobility
more
than the oak.
Thor,
Taranis,
Zeus;
all powerful deities
that claimed the oak
as their own
with their mighty bolts
of electric fury.
Perhaps
it is their longevity
and strength
that gives credence
to their legendary roots.
So, to
are the progeny of these kings.
These seeds,
these acorns,
possess unlimited potential
and growth.
In its dormant state
it reminds us
that even we
need our moments of rest
and development.
For without strong roots
no great king may rise
and without strong branches
no great kingdom may spread.
