For What It’s Worth

I was a fool with you,
wasn’t I?
It was not until
you broke every piece
of what we used to be
did I understand
that what is beautiful
does not seek attention;
it simply exudes it
due to its nature.
We could never be full
of one another
for as long as you were full
of yourself.
