You told me once,
so many nights ago,
that you believed
your mother’s bad karma
had carried over to you;
that it
was cursing you.
I had laughed it off before,
but the more thought I devoted to it,
the more it made sense.
Because your mother
would not take on her inner shadow,
her portion
of the imperfection
that lies inherent
in human nature,
her children became compelled
to live out the darkness
that she ignored.
I pray that this is not true,
but if it is,
may the gods that be
have mercy
upon your soul.
