I used to think that love
was some grand gesture
And don’t get me wrong,
it can most certainly be that.
But I have found love in the oddest,
yet
s i m p l e s t
of places.
Sometimes,
love is quiet and small,
like holding her hand for the first time.
Other times it proves itself,
like taking her home
and holding her as she cries
about her cracks.
It’s seeing galaxies
in her e y e s,
constellations in her freckles,
and the subtle reminder
that when two
very different people
keep f i n d i n g their way
back to each other
with just enough love
to forgive one another,
that maybe
just maybe,
they could really be meant
for each other.
I used to to think that love
was some grand gesture,
until I discovered
that it was the simple gifts,
your gifts,
that mattered the most to me.
