Her

With a laugh like wind chimes
being strummed by the ocean’s breeze
and eyes
brown as sage after a summer downpour
what chance did I have against you?
Your fingertips
igniting the blood within me
as you drew lazily
along the veins in my arm
and I,
tracing your freckles
like constellations in the heavens.
Your umber hair had this way
of waltzing just above your colllarbone
and it damn near brought me to my knees
every
single
time.
My bones tell me
that it has been lifetimes since I last saw you
though my mind knows better.
Maybe what is lost can be found again.
Maybe I’ll find you in the stars
and you will find me
in your bones.
