In my time on this planet
whirling around the sun
at 18 miles a second,
I have heard many sounds.
I have heard planes taking off,
cars racing at breakneck speeds,
caps popping off beer bottles
and the laughter of brothers in arms.
I have heard music, both sad and happy,
the sound of sneakers on a wooden court,
the heartbeat thumping behind the chest
of the one you love,
and the sound of children
playing in the yard.
But amidst all these sounds,
none are so loud and frightening
than the sound
of two people ignoring each other.
